Combo washer/dryer worth it?
Okay we are NOT full timing but going out for longer trips 2-3 months duration. Our rig 2016 34T Bounder appears to be basically plumbed and electrical some what ready. Wondering is it worth adding one? I am looking to do the installation myself.
There are several manufacturers or brands any recommendations ?
Would you go ventless or vented?
Thanks in advance!

I like the combo washer dryer, when I'm on a trip I use it when I have full hook ups.
I would go vented
Not many manufacturers to choose from. We have the Splendid.

Would not leave home without our Splendide combo. Get a vented model as the non vented take forever to dry and use a lot of water to do so.

If you have room consider a compact stackable or the apartment combination units. Maybe go crazy and get a propane dryer.

What is being described as a combo? If it's a single unit that does both wash and dry in a single unit, most of the views out there is they are not great but can work.
We have the separate Spendide washer and dryer in our rig and are happy we have them. Washer, though smaller does the job wonderfully. The dryer is somewhat limited by only being 110V. You just have to adjust that it takes longer to dry.
We would never not have a washer and dryer in our RV.

This is kind of an experience question.
Being as old as I am, most of the folks I camp often with see a combo as a waste of space. But almost all have gone from TT to 5er to Class C to Class A. They had years to get used to doing laundry at the CG or a local laundromat.
Near my base, less than 4 miles, is a wonderful laundromat, with someone at the location during all hours they are open. Good change machines, very clean.
We can walk in with a month's worth of laundry. Everything from undies to king sized comforters. Machines for all our stuff, wash and dry - and we can be finished in less than a hour and a half.
Now when traveling it's a bit of a gamble, but my wife had no trouble taking care of that for several years. She tended to go do laundery on Sunday while the game was on.
Now without her, I'm more an early weekday laundry type.
Our friends and those we meet who started with a larger RV/ motorhome - tend to want to have a way to wash every day, two days max.
If you have the space - a separate washer and dryer are better, more efficient.
But a combo can work for a couple, if that's all that is available.
A new 35 foot Class A or Class C - I would want a combo pulled out. If they won't, they also don't want my money.
I'd keep a stacked washer dryer - if I had 12 linear feet of hanging stuff closet space available. Otherwise, pull it out and lower the price and appropriate amount or I'll go elsewhere.
But at this point, I already know which dealers and models will work, and which won't work for me.
I would not try to put a combo w/d in your 2016 Bounder 34T because you lose half the hanging clothing space and a substantial part of your other clothing storage space. Just my one and 1/2 cents.
Last thing - most definitely a vented unit if you choose to add one.

We have a Splendid W/D that's vented. Nice to have, but not a deal breaker. We only use it on long trips as well. Anything under 3-4 weeks, it's easy to pack enough clothes, and the extra room to pack them is less room than the W/D takes up. So 6 of one and half dozen of the other.
Most decent RV campgrounds have coin op W/D to use. So would we put one in? I don't think so.

Okay some clarification, It is me and my wife no pets. Only has the one cabinet that is currently a closet but also is where the non stackable splendide would go.
OldBaldFat has mentioned what the wife said about the hanging space.
So far thanks for the responses.

I used the combo Splendide in my Bounder all the time. DH & I were not even month long travelers - mainly multi-week travelers. So easy to pop the towels in after a shower so I didn't have to mess with them, possibly, being damp for a later use. I did small loads all the time. They key is NEVER overload it or it's WRINKLE CITY.

Exactly. If you try to use them like a home unit you will be seriously disappointed. A home dryer is 2X the size of the washer. With a combo you can only put clothes in until it's half full, and not stuffed down. The free space is needed for drying and tumbling.
We will never be without a washer/dryer of some sort. We take 4.5 month winter trips and the only thing we use a laundromat for is the large, heavy bed comforter. Being able to wash as needed means we pack far less clothes and have no need for a clothes hamper.
Yes, we do more frequent small loads. We often start a load at bedtime and when we wake up it's all clean and dry. And we have no damp bath or pool towels hanging around the bathroom. We have a Splendide 2100XC.

Another thought for the washer is the impact on winter storage and access to the plumbing connections behind it. Of my considerations this year for not winterizing my rig and thus keeping it heated was the washer and also the domestic water heating part of the Oasis. For my past 3 rigs water system freeze protection was just drain the tanks including the water heater and then just blowing the lines out with compressed air. Antifreeze was poured in the drain traps. Ice maker line would be disconnected. There was not an easy way to disconnect the washer to get those lines cleared out and pump and stuff in the washer also needs to be protected.

Hello,
We are 5 weeks into our 8 week trip in our first trip with our Neptune, (37½'), which has a vented Splendid combo washer/dryer. We did not have a washer/dryer in our previous RV.
I am very pleased with how well it works. It has various options for washing and drying and most of the loads I do will take about 90 minutes for both cycles. Yes, the loads are smaller than I'd do at home, but that is not a problem for me. Also, we still have lots of storage for clothes. It was on my wish list while shopping these past months, and I'm very happy we found an RV that had one.
We won't be full-timers but usually take multiple trips per year, 2-8 weeks long. We have had to move often enough that extra trips off the site just to dump have not been an issue. Only our last 2 weeks will be on a site with full hook ups. We will be putting a hitch on our toad so we can do extra runs to dump gray water as needed on future trips. I definitely see the value having this option and recommend having a washer dryer on board!
Wishing you many happy trips!
