Crushed slide topper roller tube
I managed to bang bedroom slider roller tube into a tree and it is crushed. A&E. Fabric ripped as well. End cap is partially twisted off tube on sail dampener end. How do I relieve torsion to just replace the assembly? Can I cut the fabric from coach track and then remove balance of parts? I am completely aware of the force in the tube but would like to save spring if possible. I need to make a sleeping space for the weekend. Thanks

This one is on youtube and covers an A&E slideout awning. Not sure if the procedure can be duplicated since the tube on the OP's is crushed.
The video shows to pin the end cap to hold tension. I would say that doing that first and removing the fabric, that you could then hold pressure with your hand, remove the pin, and rotate the tube slowly to where there's no pressure.

I bookmarked that page as well. I am not sure the end cap will be able to be repositioned on roller tube.

If your plan is to salvage used parts, then just buy the unusable parts; I suggest scrapping everything and buying all new. There is a good possibility new parts will not exactly match old used parts, but by then it's too late to reverse course.
I suspect you'll end up spending less money just buying a new slide topper assy.

After a good deal of fabricating and outside the box thinking I got the end cap back into place with torsion spring pinned. Upon removal without marring mh I called Tiffin and have the replacement unit ordered. Now, that tree? The county would not allow me to put in a service drop for offshore rv. Six acres of land which I assumed was mine to use as needed. Apparently not true. Bringing the Class A to my house is not for faint of heart.(100ft at 8% to 90 degree turn which then kicks up to 18%, passing said tree, gradually reducing back to 10 %, then 40x40 walled parking turn around. Talk about 10lbs in a 5lb bag. Thanks everyone.

We also store our RV at home. Where I live, city/county will not allow a second service drop. Parcel is zoned R-1, which is single family, residence. The 2nd drop implies you'll be putting in a facility for a 2nd residence, which they don't want and isn't allowed.
We used our current drop and ran a sub panel, which feeds the new 50amp outlet.

The second service will cost you more in delivery charges and any "taxes by whatever name disguised as "
