dash pad mount for cell phone

Looking for a high quality suction cup mounting pad that will adhere to a grained dash finish. I have mounted several in the past and they continue to serve. However, I have not had success this time. It would be for a 2.3" suction cup to mount a cell phone.

Have tried alcohol cleaning and moderate heat.

I have queried 3M but without success.

Mine have fallen off with fairly light weight phones. Got an apple now and it’s so heavy I wouldn’t even consider it with the ones I’ve had.

I gave up on trying to stick the cup to the dash directly and screwed down a piece of plexiglass .

Another option ; if you only use the mount in the coach ; would be 2" wide sticky back Velcro , one side on the cup and the other on the dash , at least it'll be removable .

You can buy round plexiglass in various diameters. They come with 3m tape. Amazon has them.

Buy a round disc that is used for suction-mounted GPS units. It attaches with double-sided tape and will hold a 7" GPS unit steady.

You’ll either have to screw one down to the dash (did that for my iPad mount) or just get a radio with apple car play or android auto.

I have used one like this for the last 7 years with no problems. If sticky gets dirty you wash in soapy water and reapply. https://www.amazon.com/Windshield-Up...1&sr=8-19&th=1

I've had good success with Scosche brand products sold at Costco. I use the suction cup mounts in my pickup and in my MH. The MH is slightly textured and it still works very well. The Scosche uses a sticky pad in addition to the suction. Every so often it will require cleaning and re-attaching. I do not like permanent tape or screws on my vehicles.
Years ago Costco sold a Scosche variety pack with a tall aluminum phone mount which I still use in my MH after using in my work van for years, it still works great. Now I see they only sell the shorter, plastic ones like I have in my pickup, which still works well but requires re-attachment more often than the old one in my MH.

edit: I just went to the Scosche web site and they have about a hundred mounts and still have the aluminum one that sticks like glue, I ordered one just because mine is so old, I used Amazon pay and it was under $20 with free shipping https://www.scosche.com/consumer-tec...home-or-office
(They show it holding 2 devices but you can change the head for 1 device)

Used to have the same problem with the dimpled surfaces. Buy these discs from many places, including online retailers. Allow them to have at least 24 hours of adhesion before attempting to put a phone or whatever on it. Now, it'll hold just about anything.

Pictured is my TPMS monitor but it's the same type of suction mount. Pardon the dust!
