Day Night Shade Fix for tilt jamming
Probably anyone with Day/Night shades has had a problem with one side going without the other and then the "lock" plug falls out of the end. I have had success with gluing the two plastic sections together with plastic model cement. I skew it one way, glob on some glue, skew it the other way, glob on some glue and then level it out the best I can and let it set. If I ever break a string I will replace with MCD!!!!

I had some occasional tilt problems with the OEM day/night shades in my Winnebago, but they never "jammed", and nothing ever fell out ...at least, that is, untill the strings broke. After having one restrung, when we had three on their last legs with badly frayed strings we replaced them all with MCD "Shademan Duo" models. At the same time I put the manual models on the windows, we had the curtain in the cab area replaced with powered duos, using the OEM wiring & switches for the original small & pretty sorry "sunshades". We've had the MCDs for about 18 months now, and really love 'em!!

In our coach (see signature) we have one single shade. I would describe it as somewhere between a night shade and a day shade. We like it and, although we have not had any problems, it would probably cost less to repair than the typical day/night type. It is not the typical beige color either and looks very nice with the wood cabinet color. We bought the coach used so we don't know if this was an option or if our particular coach came standard this way. It might be a way to go if the original D/N shades wear out. Joe

I have repaired the Day Night shades and have found that the cause of the failure of the cord was caused by someone forgetting to put the little plastic guides in place where the cords go throught the Aluminium cross pieces. I bought the restringing kit from THE DIRTY BLINDMAN and the kit comes with those plastic guides.

We replaced the Day/Night shades in our bedroom with mini blinds. We like their appearance better and so far they work pretty good.
