I've never seen retail prices better for deep cycle than Sam's or Costco but maybe they're out there. You won't find Trojan's for $99 apiece, gonna be interstates or durcacell.

If you maintain them, any battery will last 4 to 5 years. I have a single point watering system and top off once a month. If sitting in one place, I put a trickle charger on the chassis battery once a month as well. I check the cells with a hydrometer a couple of times a year and all cells check out good.

There is a reason some batteries are cheaper than others: such as storage amp hours, cold cranking amps, etc. so your battery needs may dictate a different battery than mine. We do not boondock so we do not need a lot of storage amp hours so a Costco battery at $100 works just fine for us, that battery probably has around 55 amp hours of storage. But if you are boondocking you would be better off with the trojan T105 which has 225 amp hours of storage. We have solar power at home with 4 strings of 8 T105's and the amp hours is the most crucial item we consider along with the battery reliability.

First you need to determine the size battery you need, both in amp-hours of stored power and physical dimensions that fits in your battery space. Then maybe we could recommend the best bang for the buck. Usually that's a pair of GC2 golf car batteries, but maybe you don't have room for two. If not, you can usually get a decent 12v AGM (maintenance free) for around $200. Or maybe even less if its a smaller size.

Except for premium batteries like Trojan or Lifeline, most batteries are private-label brands which are actually made by one of the big battery makers, Exide, US Battery, Johnson Controls or East Penn. That means batteries with the same specs are usually the same battery or an equivalent. So brand name is rarely important - shop for specs and price.

I recently changed out my battery to a deep cycle AGM battery because I didn't trust myself with maintaing the water level on the one I have. I bought a Group 31 which was around $250 but the Group 27 is closer to $220. That's close to the price you are looking for...

I bought four of the Duracell GC2 batteries from Sams Club, on sale for $89.95 each! Very good reviews!

I've got a 96 class C.
Might not last too many more years. It's in good shape though.
Battery physical size is not an issue.
Rig has a generator so recharging is not a problem. Just would be nice to not run the (quiet) gen if not necessary.
Current coach battery is about dead - may be original, don't know.
Believe it or don't there is no easy access to the dead coach battery without using a sawzall. That's ok because I'm just going to bypass it.
suggestions for a replacement. And because I don't get it - why two 6v rather than one 12v?
