Tall Texas was spot on when it was stated the early versions where pistols to say the least. The piece of this thread l have been watching for, is the folks that have 200,000 or more that require use of DEF. I work for a small transportation firm of 250 trucks all are using DEF, the engine mfg. very but mostly ISX 11.9 & 15 L. These vehicles turn 600 to 1000 miles a day and we began to experience issues with exception of a few new ones around 200,000 to 300,000 miles.
What was learned was we needed to add a dossier valve and particulate matter serving to our PMI program.
I am not sure what the long term effects of the DEF standing for long periods of time. If anyone has ever spilled this somewhere and come back later you noticed it was crystallized.
Not trying to frighten anyone, l am concerned about the long term effect to the support mechanism of our power plant on the RV.
The emissions on these new engines are incredible who ever thought we would see the the day where the inside of the exhust tip was as clean as the outside.
