Thumbs up Discovery Overheating Solved Not Cooling Solved

i am the proud owner of a 2000 Fleetwood Discovery 36T equipped with a 275 Cummins ISB engine and a Allision 6 speed trans getting between 9.5 and 11 MPG. We always ran hot on grades, I would dread Donner Summit moving slow and running hot even at 2000 rpm. The designers at Cummins built a fabulous engine except they terminated the crank case breather dead center on the two radiators, blowing an oily mist and collecting dirt and blocking airflow throught the fins. The first couple of years I just cleaned them using simple green and Zep 505 worked great but what a mess.....Simple fix just extended the breather tube down to 6” off the ground.BINGO grade heat 1/3 of the past temps. We are traveling across country to SC from CA and experienced sudden over heating with light and buzzer. No leaks, all hoses warm, belts and fan-turning. Turns out Thermostate came apart and blocked Flow to the block but allowed water to the head. A couple new parts and a flush and we are running cold. Cooling, I have replaced my front AC 3 times and I guess it’s true third time is the charm. I am a 30 amp system and have used Colman PS, Colman PS, Dometic cool breeze and finally a Atwood with digital display and remote control. This unit draws between 12 and 20% less power and cools far better, it’s quiet and comes with a heat pump that actually works and we love it.
