Do not shift light

1995 Fleetwood American Eagle,8.3 cummins,md 3060 Allison, Do not shift light on. Will not start checked everything I can and Saturday a friend who is in the Mobil home repair business he and a friend spent 3 hrs and could not find the problem. Also noticed that the steps do not retract no power to them. Checked the neutral switch it seems ok. Shifter says itís in neutral also. Called Spartan they try to help but are limited to phone calls they have sent me all the schematics but most of it is Greek to me. Iím down to towing to Allison. Thanks.Bigslim

First thing I would do is make absolutely sure that your chassis battery bank is fully charged - the Allison tranny needs good power to work.
Next, I would contact John at and talk to him, explain what you are seeing and listen to him, he's a really sharp guy.

Agree on John as the "go to guy".

But before contacting him, do two things:

1. Verify 12+ VDC OUR from both fuses supplying the Allison ECU.

2. Check for diagnostic codes using the Allison shift pad. If you need instructions on this, let us know. VERY SIMPLE.
