Truck traffic has increased with the internet sales and instant delivery. Early morning trip often finds rest areas full and trucks parked on entrance and exit ramps.. Florida now has lights in the rest area signs indicating how many truck parking spots are left in the next rest stop.

The truck traffic at rest areas may be related to increased on-line sales, but more so it is because of the new rules on electronic log books with tied-in electronic vehicle controls. Drivers MUST shut down for mandated break times or the vehicle will simply shut down for them. Really sucks when one is only a few hours from home or drop point and the computer logs time out.

I stopped at a truck stop in w Virginia parked as far away as possible. in the middle of the night a truck pulled in next to me there was 1 inch between my mirror and his if I had to get out my door I donít think it would have been possible and yes I was in the middle of my space. Remember rest areas are paid for by gas taxes which we all pay trucker and rver alike.
