Dometic 310 toilet leak issue

We have a leak in our toilet valve that only occurs when the pedal is depressed halfway down. If we do this, water will drip out of the side of where the foot pedal attaches to the base of the toilet.

I have disassembled the entire foot pedal and valve for testing. While the valve was outside of the toilet housing and under pressure, there was no leak. When I manually depressed the small button on the end of the valve, water flowed into the tank with no leak. However, when I reassembled it, sure enough water dripped out when the pedal was partially depressed, but not when fully depressed. This doesn't make sense to me but that's what's happening.

Before I get online and order a new valve, my question would be have any of you experienced this and if so, is this the valve or is there something about the foot pedal not doing its job correctly? When I put the foot pedal back on to the toilet, I made sure it was lined up correctly and was also securely fastened.

Thanks for any help.

Perhaps the foot pedal is pushing the button valve at an angle vs straight down off setting the sealing aspect?

Yeah, that was my initial guess when I didn't get any leak by pushing with my thumb. That's why I made sure to secure the pedal so that it was nice and straight, as well as tightened securely. I'm thinking I'm going to spend money on a valve and find the same problem!

Thanks!

Try putting some silicone grease on the pedal cam surface, doing so may prevent the valve plunger from depressing off center.

OK, just opened it up and tried that. No success. I think I'm going to buy a new valve AND a new foot pedal. I hate chasing my own tail and lord knows, REV makes us do that often enough.
