Mine has started doing this. I got up there to check it out. When I pulled the covers off there were metal chips in the motor housing so I figure the motor is shot. I did shoot some lube in it but that had very little effect.
If you do decide to pull it apart be sure to mark the orientation of the bearing on the motor side relative to the tube. I had a real struggle getting it lined up right.
I think it is a reasonable DYI job if you are willing to cut the leads and patch them back. If you want to pull the wire from the coach it is going to be a bigger job. Might as well replace the fabric to while you have it all apart. Plan on scraping, sanding, priming, and painting the caps. On mine the paint was bubbled and it was heavily corroded under the coating. I hope my paint job does better than theirs.
