Dually Valve / Eez Tire issue?
Good morning!
On Friday I had a DuallyValve DL3F kit installed on our rear wheels. I then screwed on all 6 of our Eez Tire sensors. So far, so good - everything was registering fine, etc.
However, I realized some of the tires were overinflated, so removed the sensors one-by-one to adjust pressure. When I got to the rear, two of the DuallyValves would not shut off when the sensors were unscrewed - air was gushing out like the stems were still depressed. I was able to prod each of those enough with my finger that they somehow got "right" and stopped.
Disconcerting.
Then I went to the other two rears and both of those valves also would not shut off. I have tried fully depressing and releasing the stem with a small screwdriver, I've tried wiggling the "button" with needle nose pliers, and I've also used a valve stem tool to make sure they were tight in the bore. No dice.
There's nothing quite like working on something that is leaking down while you're trying to figure out WTH is going on. I imagine a smaller version of having a thru-hull go bad on a boat.
Anybody been here, done this? I'm at a loss...
PS forgot to note that I've had these EezTire units installed on our previous trailer with no trouble, and the two front sensors on the MH were no problem yesterday. Feels like this is related somehow to the DuallyValves...?

I probably do not know what you are using. I assume that connecting dual tires results in one fitting so the pressure is exactly the same in both tires and you only have to fill in one value per set of dual tires. If so, then you would only need one sensor for that fill valve?

Here's what I'm working with... There are two valve stems and two sensors, one for each tire.

Are you using balancing beads or weights on tires?

Good question. I will have to ask the shop on Tuesday what they did. My bill doesn't indicate and we didn't discuss that detail. Is it possible for beads to find their way down a valve stem and jam something up? I would have thought they'd be too big, but am unfamiliar...

I've had valve inserts do that before. The inner pin gets wobbly and doesn't pop back like it should. It's also possible that dirt (or maybe balancing bead gets into the stem and jams. I fixed one by screwing in a new insert. When another wheel did the same, I just removed the insert and then screwed it back in again and it was ok. Yeah, a PITA with high pressure air blowing out!

Thanks Gary. I was kinda figuring removing a core would be next, but was hoping to avoid that
I'll move the rig next to my shop so I have it near air, and then do one at a time with the jacks down to take some pressure off. Hopefully I won't lose all the air in the tire, but if I do, the second tire + jacks should save me...

I've used the same Dually valves for seven years without any problems, also with screw-on sensors. If you have balancing beads that would be suspect.

Beads can jamb up valve needle, if you have beads there is a special valve for them. If it is the problem you need to change core cause it will happen every time you check tire pressure.

Kinda related: I have 10 EezTire TPMS on my motorhome & car trailer. Bought from Amazon. They do take a few minutes to "wake up" from an overnight stop but I am essentially satisfied. The temperature measuring function saved me from a further problem when a sliding caliper brake didn't slide and overheated.

Thanks everyone! I'll be confirming about the beads with my shop on Tuesday & if they did install them I'll be getting a set of the filtered cores ASAP. There's always something, isn't there?
And to Jake, yes, I've been very satisfied with Eez Tire so far. I like that I can see both temp and pressure - helps to catch issues before they are REALLY issues.

I've had problems with EezTire sensors bending the valve cores when screwed in too tight. I've had this happen multiple times in two motorhomes. You have to screw the EezTire sensors on gently and carry spare valve cores and a core removal tool.

Glad to help, you need a good valve core tool to change. It’s kinda nerve racking when all that air starts coming out and installing new ones.
