Resealing around clearance light bases is a waste of time and effort IMO. Years ago I had a water leak from a clearance light, resealed all the light bases, still leaked. Then I removed a clearance light lens to clean it. That's when i noticed a dirty water line on the inside of the lens.
Water was leaking into the lens but could not leak out because the bottom side was sealed with dirt.
This caused the lens to fill with water until reaching the wiring hole into the cap. Then water flowed along the wiring into the RV wall, where eventually I noticed wood rot.
My solution was to drill a 1/8" hole in the bottom of each lens, and unseal the bottom of each light base so any water behind the base can leak away too.
