Thumbs up Emergency roof leak fix

Well I use my Motorhome in the winter and I like it warm in side. But when it is cold out side and snow on the roof. ( which I try to keep off the roof) any way getting the roof hot then cold then hot ..as we all would know water gets in places and freezes kind of like a side walk does. So sure enough I did get a leak. I could cry as I love the old beast of a motorhome. So when it was sunny out I dried off the roof and put Gorilla Tape over the sems where I figured the water was getting in. And the last two months even with the cold and snow is still dry. So it works I will fix the roof as soon as it warms up or I take it to a warmer climate. After reading some of the post on here I figure on using eternbond. I am still researching as I want something to do the whole roof with. then I am having the Motorhome painted. sure enjoy all the ideals and help on here. I sure am jealous of some of the large super Motorhomes some have. but am very happy with what I have as I did not get the thing to impress any one just as long as it is safe and comfortable I am happy. If I had the money I would get a bigger MH though. Also, looking to buy a good Toad. I am getting it just for when I use the Motor home. I am wondering how important it really is to have a toad as I could always rent a car when I am going to be parked for a while. Maybe just a bike would work. Just thinking out loud. Not sure if it is worth all the extra problems to have a Toad. k then Peace to all and safe driving.

If you do end up caulking it then do NOT use a silicone caulk!! Worst for RV roofs as it does not move and will end up cracking. Find and use a polyurethane caulk instead.

Hi Elecmusic,
If one can not see the seam, from the ground, use EternaBond. Drop a chalk line where you want the edge of the EternaBond to go. With this product you get one chance to place it. It has a 10 year warranty. Did my roof 6 years ago and there have been no problems.

The need for a toad depends on how often and where you RV. Enterprise car rental company is good, if they are where you RV. For me, I want the toad. I spend 6 months a year in the coach.

Eternabond works great for sealing seams or tears. To replace a rubber roof is about $135 a linear foot. I have used Liquid Rubber to coat the entire roof of a previous MH and it really worked well. Much cheaper than replacing the rubber roof. Some info here: RV Roof Repair | RV Roof Coating Liquid Roof
It would apply over the eternabond tape. Not so much over the other tape...
As with any "paint on" material, the preparation is important. A search on this forum should give a lot of info from those that have used various coatings...
