Few updates with pics and few questions

Hey everyone,
So me and my youngest took "Hard Knock" on our first adventure. And as per usual a few things need addressing.

First I changed my right manifold but it stater to leak past the gasket at rear of head and I am thinking it was the cheap ****** Dorman gaskets as the really didn't line up very well so any recommendations on a better manifold gasket?

Second is the clutch fan is ridiculous loud when it engages, apparently the previous owner put in a new "heavy duty fan" whatever that means, and the clutch does appear to be new prob sever duty and maybe even larger more aggressive fan with different blade pitch because this thing sounds like a transport when locked in. The gauge never even gets to half and the fan locks in. With or without my aux fans switched on. I have to do something as this is way too loud for my kids and myself.

I also determined my heavy sway was my worn out bell crank on left side and ordered the super steer. I also ordered the new airlift air bags to get my ride height back to spec and then I can get it aligned to stop the inside shoulder consumption on the steers.

We also realized out toilet would not hold water and also allowing waste tank smell to come through. Took it apart and ordered a new gasket repair kit offline as my local RV stores told me it was discontinued and couldn't get it. It is an old Thetford auqua magic galaxy. Upon tear down the other day there was hard paper stopping the flapper from closing which helped it shut but it still doesn't seal and I also found cracks in the top mechanism housing, but will epoxy those up when I instal the new gaskets. I don't believe they will cause any issues. I also have a few yr old RV toilet from Canadian Tire with a different flushing system that I removed from my hunting trailer but it has a flap door mech that get pulled down and away when I flush and is also leaking water as the rubber seal plate has a worn ring into it and lost its sponge. Can be my backup if I need it.

Lastly I installed some clearance dual driving lights in place of originals, Canadian had them on sale and 2 lights in one. Amber fog lights wired to existing fog light switch and the led spots wired to relay on my HighBeam circuit so the will come on with my high beams. They were 20 bucks each and cheaper then some new sealed beams so just gotta aim them one night and try them out.

All in all everything works, even the power step....but motor is tired on retract and sometime needs a bit of help, and Genny needs new fuel line from tank which will happen once it's closer to empty.

Thanks to this site and all the info I have been able to get from posting and simply reading through the forums the ole girl will be a revamped rig once again.

Tried to upload some pics but are the wrong format but I did get the front lights

Thanks again guys and gals for everything here

First congrats on getting the rig on the road for a shake-down cruise.

Our '96 Flair needed dozens of shakedown runs before I was happy with her performance. Might I add, due to deferred repairs and maintenance there was a lot to do.

Will do what I can to answer some of your questions below.

I am assuming you either have a Chevy 454, or a Ford 460 under the hood. I’m guessing 454, as you mention Supersteer bell crank below.
In either case, I would go with Felpro manufactured gaskets. This manufacture was my go to, back when I wrenched for a living.

Class-A RVs generally use HD or Severe Duty fan clutches. These fan clutches normally will only bolt to factory original fans. The old school flex fans, and alike do not bolt to OE fan clutches.

As for quieting the noise, we added foil covered heavy insulation under the floor (below the seats), engine compartment, and dog house. Made a huge improvement in noise intrusion. https://www.irv2.com/forums/f65/what...ml#post4509931

Did similar to our P30. Air bags, bell crank, front sway bar bushings. Eventually went with Supersteer front springs, Bilstein shocks, rear track bar. For alignment, check out this online pdf. Explains the GM P30/32 alignment very well. Supersteer will also send you undated P30/32 alignment specifications.

Thetford still lists part numbers, perhaps this can help in search for parts.

Thanks so much for the reply and I will try some matting to quiet down the 454 clutch fan cuz it’s horribly loud. I will also try the alignment specs when it goes in for alignment
I also looked up the gel pro gaskets already as I didn’t like the fit of the Dorman ones but used them anyway as it was all I had at the time knowing they prob wouldn’t last. Thanks for the input
