Lots of good info here. Thanks so much for everyone's two cents!! My eyes have been opened about the need to be prepared for these tire problems....I had over 20,000 miles carefree and never even considered things said above...

I had a flat a couple years ago. Cost me $45 for the service call and patching. Took about an hour for the Les Schwabe truck to get there, fix the flat and send me on my way.

I can assure you I could not find a mobile tire service around Binghamton, NY for $45......

Yeah it's a good idea if, you don't carry bicycles with you and tow a toad all at the same time. Plus don't forget you're going to need a real good air compressor, sockets and other air tools that can break 450 ft.lb. lugs. And then it also will be need to replaced when you replace other tires because it's DOT date will also will time out. But other than that it's a good idea I guess.
