Flush mount light problem

I was going through the motorhome today taking inventory of the different kinds of bulbs so that I can convert to LED's.

My previous fifth wheels had a similar flush mount light under the cabinets. They took a G4 bulb and are accessed by turning the outer ring slightly CCW to get to the bulb.

I cannot for the life of me get the outer ring, inner ring, or lens to move at all to access the bulb. Anyone seen this style of light? I' m stumped at the moment.

CCW on the outside ring, if they are like mine. Try one of the wife's silicone trivet or pot lid. The silicone really grips and makes it easier to remove. I ran thru some old guy phrases when I had to remove some of mine. Our bulbs are G4 side pin, 10w. I think its called a 2" fixture..

Thanks cruzbill.

My wife has one of those silicone pot thingy's. That should help with the grip. I will give it a try.

Thought I would mention, all LED lights are not created equal. This is an area where you get what you pay for as a general rule. I bought some nice looking flat panel bulbs that has a base to replace an 1141. Turns out that without a heat sink, LED's get so hot they cook the driver circuity. I ended up getting flat panels with heat sinks and spacers to isolate the driver circuitry from the LED's and heat sinks, from M4 Products. Mention RVGeeks for a 5% discount and you get 10% off if you buy certain quantities (usually 10).

For the small reading/flush lamps, I replaced the G4 halogens with some also from M4 products and actually did have one fail, just quit, but was quickly replaced.

Not connected with RVGeeks or M4, just a happy customer. You buy cheap Ebay stuff or cheap Amazon stuff (like I did) and it starts failing within the first year, and then you wish you had bought the good stuff to begin with.

Thanks for the tip about M4 and RVGeeks discount, Charles .

I also learned the hard way by buying cheap leds from Amazon for my previous fifth wheel. They hummed and two smoked the circuit boards. Not doing that again. It's just not worth burning the coach down to save $50.

A little late to the party but you can bookmark RV Lighting for future reference. I've ordered LED bulbs from them and found them to be good. Ordering from them was much quicker than from M4 in the states.
