FMCA Tire Discount is a Joke

I joined the FMCA about a year ago and one of the main reasons I joined was their tire discount program. They make it sound like you will get a decent discount so I registered withe Michelin Advantage program. Yesterday I bought two front 295/80 R 22.5 Michelin xza2 Energy tires and had them installed. Turns out Michelin charged me about $745 per tire, which, by the way, is the same price you can buy them on-line and had them shipped for free to the tire shop. Some discount. So if you are thinking about buying tires through the so-called discount program of the FMCA, don't waste your time.

I agree, I bought 6 new Michelin 275/80R22.5 LRH in September for $74 less per tire than the FMCA "Discount" price. The tire discount is like most things from FMCA, if you do a little research you find better deals.

Agree. FMCA discount is a joke. Found out we could get tires cheaper by not using their discount. Skip

That's surprising. I bought two Michelin 29580R22.5 tires through FMCA and saved about $100 per tire! That was a couple of years ago.

Apparently the OP didn't do any research. FMCA tells you that you might find a better deal elsewhere. Question is did the OP go to a dealer that participates in the FMCA program or pull into his favorite?
My savings was about $130 per tire

Yup - I wonder if the OP went to his favorite tire dealer and bought the tires, or did he, as required by the FMCA program, order the tires through Michelin and have them delivered to one of the tire dealers authorized for the program?

I too beg to differ. I bought four tires, same tire and size as original poster two years ago and saved about $120 per tire based on best price I could find within a reasonable driving distance from where I live. This was including mounting/balancing fees etc. Tire dealer said what I paid was much lower than his price.
(I showed him the price)
Last month I used it to buy four Michelin Pilot Sport 4 AW for my car. Saved about $400 compared to TireRack.com as well as two other dealers I looked at, including Sam's Club

I just bought two 235x80R 22.5s this week. I asked the tire dealer his price on the tires, and he quoted me $458 per tire. I got a quote from Michelin through the FMCA program. Their price was $432 per tire, a savings $26 per tire, but when I got the invoice from Michelin, they posted a price of $484 as as the regular retail price showing a savings of $52 per tire, so when posting how much you saved through FMCA, it all depends on where you start.

We had Michelin fronts, time to replace them aged out. Looked at joining FMCA for the tire discount and other benefits.

Began the research, FMCA was out right away, looked at online tires delivered, finally settled on local tire shop.

Two Toyo M144 295/80 22.5 $1020 OTD. Get this, tires were ordered came in a week, local dealer came to the MH in storage (outdoors) dismounted and mounted the Toyo tires right there, cleaned the tires and rims up and thanked us for our business.

Your best deal may be in your neighborhood

Where did you get the retail price for the comparison?

I got my first set of 6 Michelin 295/80R22.5 tires through FMCA 7 years ago and save $720 and got my second set last year before heading to Arizona save another $700+ and then sold my 6 takeoffs for $600, not to bad.

I called several commercial tire dealers that I found on the internet within about 100 miles of our location, which included the dealer that eventually installed the tires I got through FMCA.

I agree. I was able to get a lower price from a independent truck tire shop that thru the FMCA discount program. I also got a lower price on a windshield replacement than on the FMCA Glass Discount Program thru Guardian using the same independent glass dealer that Guardian referred me to.
