Frameless windows questions

Hi,

Do coaches that have frameless windows still have sliding passenger and driver windows? Also do frameless windows have bug screens?

Thanks,

Mine has both a drivers window that slides open and a small opening window on passenger side. Screens all around.

I don’t think frameless could be sliding. Our frameless ones each have one “louvre” at the bottom that cranks out.

I don't think frameless can be sliding either. I was asking about the drivers/passenger window as I always leave one open to get through in case of a lock failure.

Our driver window is a roll down, no bug screen. The passenger window has a section at the bottom that cranks out. It does have a screen.

Thanks,
Our friends have a new Fleetwood with the frameless windows and yes, at least the driver's window is a normal sliding type. The frameless windows just crank out at the bottom and they do have screens.

Just for the technical record... "frameless" is being used as synonymous with "awing" here, probably because all the frameless RV windows I've seen are indeed the awning (aka louver or crank-out) type. It need not be, and I know of no technical reason why that needs to be true, but that is what is available on RV's today. Awning type windows do not have to have a limited opening arc either, but again that seems to be what is being used in newer RVs. A smaller opening makes for slightly cheaper window construction - do ya think that might have something to do with it?

On an awning or louver type, the screen is on the inside, where as on a slider it will be on the outside.

Awning and louver type windows have often been used in the past on RVs but they were not frameless.

I haven't seen one yet, but apparently, Tiffen has developed a frameless window that slides. Our coach has all frameless windows, except the driver's window which slides. I would certainly go back to sliding windows if there were an option. More airflow, better view and pass thru ability.

Tiffin's windows aren't frameless, but they are flush mount, double pane which slide. The sliding half pulls inward about 1", then slides past the fixed pane. The frames are very thin and when painted they look frameless from a distance.
