Fridge on LP

How long can we run a fridge solely on LP when MH is sitting without electricity ? And will it run the house batteries down?

The refrigerator needs 12vdc for the control circuitry. Both 12vdc electric and propane usage are very small, we dry camp for a week or more at a time and the refrigerator consumption is never a problem or even much of a consideration.

The propane will probably last a lot longer then the battery unless you run the generator or have ample solar charging. We have ~320 watt solar charging and in sunny weather we don't have to run the generator and the propane would probably last a month or more.

I would guess that a fridge can run almost 2 months on 20lb tank. When boondocking my biggest concern would not be the minuscule 12v required for the fridge, but the other parasitic loads most motorhomes have. There are usually several, and added up, they take a toll on the house batteries. Get a voltmeter and check your batteries every day(if possible) to keep an eye on what's going on.
