The $30 to $40 savings per 100 gallons is the .30 to .40 cents per gallon (often more) cheaper price at non Loves/Pilot/FJ.
The difference is probably the same contract prices the truckers get.

I've been at a Pilot and with my $0.09 discount cheaper than nearby stations.
I'll take the convenience and safety of the truck lanes even if paying a little more. Usually much faster too with the large nozzles. I can easily get 700 miles before needing fuel and will fuel where less if the station is busy enough to believe the fuel is fresh when unhitched, but never with a 41' 5er behind a long bed truck.

I saved .43 per gallon on this stop.
It is convenient and safe. Most of the local RVers fill up here.

Some folks may have not yet built enough confidence. The CDL manual maneuvering skills really do the job.

Used the card today at the Loves Travel Plaza in Muscle Shoals, AL. The truck pump price was $2.929, with the EFS Discount card I paid $2.436.

That's a 49.3 cent savings less the 10% TSD charge for a net savings of 44.3 cents per gallon for 80 gallons = $35.44

The discount price sheets I have seen so far show the biggest savings at Loves, with the next most savings at T/A locations. Pilot/FlyingJ locations I would get better savings with the Good Sam/Pilot RV card.

Correct. On the mobile version you need to back out and view the topic heading. Then when you click on the ˅ in the upper right hand corner it will bring up a sub menu with the Subscribe option. Not a big deal for sure but it does help keep down receiving some unnecessary notifications.

Agree, when filling up near home, use local Sams Club, but on the road use Loves, or FJ/Pilot. Used to use Gas Buddy, but got stuck one time in a small station and had to disconnect toad and do some fancy backing up. I will pay the extra for the benefits of a big truck fuelling station.
Plus, don't know what they use to remove bugs, but the windshield cleaning bucket and long handled squeegee is a big plus.

I ordered mine today. Claiming savings can involve a lot of fuzzy math. Absolute cost is the only worthwhile measure, and that's specific to a particular location and time.

I just got it for the advantage of having cardlock access. In some areas of the continent those are more available than retail diesel.

As I see it this is an innovative exercise in Co-op fuel purchasing with TSD. The more they buy, the more leverage they have to obtain discounts. We all win.

CONCERNS due to Sch A 2.1

I was filling out the forms to complete the applications when I read Schedule A, Sub point 2.1 which says that by signing the application I certify that I am either a government agency, a non-profit organization or a commercial business enterprise.

I'm retired and drive a DP, so how can I legally qualify? I reread their intro and they are specifically seeking DP owners to participate.

I called Joy and left a message asking for clarification on this and have yet to hear back.

Just sharing with ya'll that unless I get some specific clarification in writing that an individual non-commercial owner can participate I'll have to pass.

I did some research and didn't find anything that says an individual non-commercial owner is prohibited by law from using the discount program. In fact, as a Good Sam member I already participate in the sponsoring companies discount program for Pilot and They have also offered me their CC which would increase my discount, I think to 15 cents.

Hoping Joy calls and they will change Schedule A 2.1 for all DP owner operators. It looks like it could provide a real savings.

I'll let ya'll know the outcome - Richard

I’m interested on what Joy has to say. It sounds like it will save us money, but I want to make sure we can actually use it without lying on the form.

UPDATE on Fuel Card

Just spoke with TSD in regard to Schedule A, subparagraph 2:1 limiting use to 'government, non profit or commercial business enterprise' which we, as individual owners/operators are not authorized to request and use the card without misrepresenting the truth (lie).

Tara and Ginna punted to Joy who is on vacation and due back Monday, 7/15/19.

Ginna stated that she was unaware of such a restriction so I read it to her again and she was baffled but as this is Joy's program she'll have to address it.

Will be calling Monday am as I would like to participate legally.

Richard

Richard, regarding that clause, I'd just strike through that, initial and date next to the markup, and send that along with the rest of the pages. This is a contract between two private parties, that's all it is.

I'm not a lawyer, but I've written, signed, altered and marked up many contracts over the years. Just because one party includes boilerplate does not mean all parties have to roll with it.

Ummm, no. You are pretty much out of luck if they do a direct debit as you preapproved it. There ate LOTS of cases where people have allowed direct debit and been cleaned out with no recovery from their banking institution. Check with your banker for sure though.
Never use your main account, open a separate account and limit the amount in it.
