Take a look at the “Traffic” section in your owners manual ... I tried to copy what’s in mine for the 770, is on page 15, but Adobe won’t let me. Hopefully that explains it. Not sure what might be different for a 760.

The Garmin, by itself, cannot give you real time updates. Check the manual for the unit and find how to connect the Garmin to your smart phone, that should solve the problem or real time updates. Setting up the connection between the two devices is fairly straightforward, but you have to remember to make sure it's up and running each time you take the RV out and are using the Garmin for navigation.

Not for one specific to large/heavy vehicles.
There is a reason that trip & route planning takes such a large portion of the time allocated to training new truck drivers. There is a lot to learn, and there are many things to watch out for.
I was trained to use at least THREE reference materials to properly plan my route. I'd start with the trucker's atlas to get a general idea of where I was going, including looking in the tables/charts for weight restrictions and low bridges.
The second step was to find the location using Google Maps on my smartphone or tablet. The location would then be looked at carefully with satellite view to make darned sure that access was present for the size vehicle I was driving. Then I'd look to make sure that the street address was the one which I actually needed to get to the correct driveway/entry point.
The last step was to drop a pin in Google Maps for the actual location I was going and send it from Google Maps directly to my Garmin (neat trick - look in the manual). This last step was then used to plan the actual driving route to be sure I avoided any known obstacles based on weight/height/length.
Final check was to again cross reference the route Garmin planned with the information I found in the trucker's atlas as well as the directions given by the shipper/consignee (in this case directions provided by campground) to make sure there were no conflicts.
If I ever got stuck or ended up in a situation which required a tow to get out of and it was due to poor route planning on my part, I'd have been responsible for the tow bill.
Things are no different for a RV owner. Don't simply plug the address into the Garmin (or any single mapping software) and blindly trust it as a good route. Cross check and cross reference. Do your homework. Fly the route ahead of time on Google Street View. Do what you have to do to make sure that you're always on an approved and safe route.

I didn't see this mentioned in a quick scan. The current Garmin phone app is called Garmin Drive and per this page it will pair to the RV 760: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/111441#devices

Using Garmin Smartphone Link app on an Android, here's what I do:
- Make sure that the Garmin is linked to the smartphone using Garmin Smartphone Link app on Bluetooth.
- I find the location on Google Maps like I normally do.
- I click on the "share" icon in the Google Maps apps, scroll to the icon for Garmin Smartphone Link, and then share with the app.
- The Garmin unit will then let me know that it has received a shared location.
Not sure if this works with every Garmin, but if you can link your smartphone with the Garmin using the Garmin Smartphone App it should.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...apps.phonelink
I like this method for adding locations to the Garmin for a few reasons:
1. Not all locations can be found in Garmin using addresses.
2. If you need to enter through a specific driveway or turn-off, you can drop a pin directly at that spot on the road and share the pin with the Garmin. Much more accurate than searching by addresses.

Not reading the whole thread, similar to you not reading the whole instructions about getting real time updates to use with your Garmin.
Are Garmins perfect? No, far from it, but your Garmin did not let you down, you let yourself down by not downloading/using the Smartphone Link App with your GPS. How else would you expect it to give you real time traffic updates and road conditions. You have now been made aware of this requirement so learn from it and use it in the future.
You link the App one time to your Garmin, make sure it is running when you start the trip and you don't have to touch your phone at all while driving, but much more information will be available on your GPS.

Well, I agree with everyone's thoughts about not trusting any one source completely for GPS guidance on the road.
But I have to put in a plug for RV Trip Wizard here. I don't feel it necessary to use any stand-alone GPS unit like Garmin now that I've paired RVTW with the RVLife app.
I simply create my trips in advance online using RVTW and then I import each leg of the trip into the RVLife app on my Iphone as I need them. RVTW lets me set the parameters that I want for each trip and what Points Of Interest I want to know about along the way. It also alerts me to potential hazards like low bridges.
Then the RVLife app gives me turn-by-turn directions on my Iphone using my saved trips set up in RVTW.
It's the single best setup for RV trip research, creation, and guidance that I have found so far and works well for me. I just completed a trip all around the Northeast (the NE is notorious for RV hazards) using this method and it went very well.
But having said that, even RVTW is not perfect. That's why I also use other apps like TruckMap and Allstays to verify the information that RVTW gives me about each trip. I made a video about this on my YT channel.
All of this takes a bit of time to plan out and compare between trip planning resources, but it makes for a pretty smooth experience on the road.

As mentioned, I too love Gamin's and BaseCamp. They do interstates and dirt trails. I use a nuvi in my jeep and a Dezl in my rv.

I paid a premium price thinking it would offer protection for our large RV and have sadly trusted it. We went on a short trip and kept running into detours for bridges being out, no notification from Garmin we were lucky our last bridge out was at a cross road. The good part there was an intersection just before the bridge or non bridge bad part was it was a 1 lane country gravel road. We had no option go right /left or turn around in a cornfield. we did go right and luckily did not come up on any oncoming traffic. Like a combine, semi or large tractor. we did finally get to the highway we were looking for and reached our destination, my clean freshly waxed MH and toad were now white. I did call Garmin upon my return home and got an explanation. "they cant check all the roads" Not what I expected, they only offer road info around large metro areas which in Indiana that would be only Indpls. I did find out that they did offer protection of bridge heights on interstates as they had vehicles go out and measure. This also was not completely true as the interstate we were on had construction and a notice for trucks to use the left lane as the left berm was being worked on. I was not in a truck so didnt think it meant me. well when they shifted regular traffic to the right this raised those vehicles and the overpass was right there and the edge was lower than the center. Thankfully we did not hit the top edge of the overpass, that would have really runt the trip. Oh and no notice of construction.
Anyway enough of that. I am now looking for a new GPS system for large vehicles. What do you guys use? I have used a TOMTOM for my Jeep and they use satellites and driver input for live traffic but lack Large vehicle input. Dont trust your Garmin if it says go right here you might end up in a lake or worse.

I use a Rand McNally RV 7. That said I think your Garmin performed well. The only way to stay current on recent construction would be if each state reported expected and ongoing road construction. That isn't going to happen IMO.
When I am planning a route I use this for Indiana each state has such a website. I also use INDOT bridge clearance map for driving state and county roads.

I can do pretty much the same things using Rand McNally maps, it's free.

Daily map updates would be required to come close to the routing info you want. Maybe get WAYZ to RV profiles and routing?

I use a Garmin RV 785 and also always have Waze just running. It figures out that we're on an interstate and just starts giving alerts up ahead until we exit.
