Gas Overflow!

When I fill my tank it consistently overflows and spills gas on the coach. I tried stopping every 5 to 10 gallons to let some air in and it still overflows. Any suggestions?

Is it a vented gas cap?? Maybe plugged. Or is it a sealed cap that is supposed to build up pressure for emmissions and the sealing washer is bad???

It overflows when I fill the tank (with the cap off)... normally the pump shuts off when it's full before allowing you to spill gas.

The thread Camp_CA linked is a good one - but I’ll add and impress - check the fuel tank vent hose running between the fuel tank and the side of the fuel filler. If not properly routed, it will fill with fuel and not allow gas vapor to vent back to the fuel filler thus pressuring the tank. Then fuel backs up the fuel filler hose and kicks the nozzle, often times spitting gas back at you.

The vent hose most always route above the filler hose and not have any downward loops that could trap raw gas.

Our ‘02 coach had the same issue when we got it in ‘21. OP had had the tank replaced, and the installers didn’t properly resecure the hoses to the chassis (and they didn’t fully tighten the fill hose clamp to the fuel tank which caused spillage under the coach when I filled the tank full).

As I'm under warranty, I just made an appointment at the local Ford Truck Center.
