The gas strut on the front entrance door of our just purchasd 2001 diesel Tradewinds is missing. I believe the previous owner had tried to replace it with struts that had plastic ends, as I found two broken ones in the MH. This strut runs from the bottom of the door to the inside door frame.

When we were looking for our MH, we looked at an identical unit that had a dog-leg type stop at the top of the door. It seems National RV had two different types of stops on their doors. The previous owner told me this part is no longer available from National RV.

Has anyone had to replace this strut? If so, I would appreciate any information or advice. Thanks.

Jarhead1,
Thanks. I went to the site and seems like they have everything in the way of struts. I'll give them a call later today. My real problem is, I don't exactly know what I need to buy. The two broken struts left in the MH I'm sure were after-market. What I don't know is, does the plunger connect to the door or the frame? I assume the valve works opening the door out to the stop to slow it up, for instance when the wind might catch the door.
Thanks for the information. Hopefully, someone can give me a number of more info on that particular strut.

Hey Larry,
Congrats on your new purchase! We also stepped into the world of diesel pushers. Traded the Dolphin for a used Alpine.
