generac acting up

Hi all, I have an 81 dodge Tioga w. A generac 4000watt Gennie. Even being as old as it is, the gen has low hours, 150 hrs or so. My problem is I ran it this morning for a few hours with no issues, like normal... But when I went to start it this evening it wouldn't start. I have gas, oil, spark & plenty of battery power. I tried starting it inside & out, I started the cab engine, which usually does the trick. But no luck. It just cranks but doesn't want to run..... Any ideas out there I can troubleshoot? I have done all the tricks I know. Any help is appreciated, thanks

Welcome to irv2.
Here are some links to all types of Gen's .
I would try running from outside so you can observe the spring action of choke springs and maybe help it operate may need to be spray cleaned and lubed.

My suspicion is that the low hours is the culprit. Generators NEED to be run, if for no other reason than to keep the carburetor from gumming up. That being said....did it surge or run rich while it was running ? Common symptoms if its a carburetor issue. Perhaps the fuel pump failed ? That would explain it running earlier in the day, then not starting later in the day. Hope maybe this might help.

Hi, thanks for the links and info... We did take the carb out and cleaned it up. The gen us getting fuel, our in new breaker and it even started once since but wouldn't carry a small load without a fee funny sounds, so we stopped it. Haven't gotten it to restart again. I did find the manual for the MC 40 alt online, which has helped ensure the timing is right.. But still no luck today. All the components are there but it just won't catch and start...ugh! I thank you for yr help
