My Onan 6.5 NHEFA generator has died the expensive death -- rotor needs to be replaced, or so I am told. Will get a second opinion, but it does not look good.

I'm seriously thinking of replacing the Onan with a Honda 6010. Cost to repair (or replace the Onan with another old-technology Onan) is supposed to be greater than the cost to replace the Onan with a Honda.

Except that Onan service technicians can repair/replace the Onan and presumably will do factory warranted work whereas the Honda install may be problematic in that regard.

Any and all advice re: replacing the Onan with a Honda 6010 (or any other suitable 6.5 KVA generator) would be appreciated.

If you have access to the newsgoups Ppost a message with the header "PING Alan Robinson" and post your question in the body. He will answer in a day or so. Probably the best generator man I know.
