Generator hours reading incorrectly

Hello all,
I recently purchased a 2019 Jayco Precept Prestige. It only has 8k miles. I found it odd that the generator read 550 hours give or take for such a recent model. What I’ve noticed since having it home is that something is adding to the counter that is definitely not the generator. There is an auto generator setting that is not on. And I haven’t turned it on. But when I looked at it today, I noticed it said 562 hours. Does anybody know why the counter would be getting a signal that the generator is operating when it’s not?

Something wrong in the board maybe. I'm not familiar where onan pulls the signal from. When you do figure it out it would be worthwhile to buy a new hour meter .

In late 2018 we bought a new Jayco Precept Prestige 36U. We kept it in a storage lot about three miles from home. As we prepped for trips I was noticing that the fuel seemed less than I remembered when I parked it. To confirm, I completely filled up the fuel tank and put it in storage. The next time I went to check, sure enough, the fuel was down to approx 1/4 tank. Convinced that someone was stealing my fuel, I went to talk to the onsite manager to ask about video tape. One of the lot workers was in the office eating lunch and overheard our conversation and he said my MH generator was running frequently. We had power at the lot so I didn't need the AGS to start the generator. I tripled checked all my settings to confirm that the AGS was disabled and it was. Took it to the selling dealer, who plugged it in and confirmed the AGS was off, and they confirmed that the Generator was definitely coming on. Jayco agreed and replaced the controller.

I contacted Jayco to ask for compensation for lost fuel and approx 300 hours on a new generator and they denied it, but did cover the first service which was way overdue. All this to say it could be your controller.

This is fantastic information - thank you! I’ll investigate that as it sounds like what I’ve got going on. I can’t hear my generator from the house, though I’m going to strain my ears more now. And I’ll see if there’s a way for me to test that controller.
