We cant get the generator slideout to open. Its freezing cold here and trying to get the hotblooded motorhome going. Gen started good for being 20 degrees.

More coach info would be helpful. Mine has a release with a "T" handle similar to a inside brake or hood release, plus 2 releases above the generator. Until all 3 are released, nothing moves. If there were moisture in the track, it may be frozen too.

If it is due to moisture try spraying some rubbing alcohol onto the slides.
This is basically what is in those little lock de-icers that you can buy in states that have real winters.
Try not to get it on the paint. It will not damage it instantly but it over time it can.

My gen. Slide motor got miosture in and wouldn't work. Motor dissasembly, cleaning the commutator and drying the windings fixed the problem

Sidney has a Beaver Contessa MH per his profile, just took 2 mouse clicks to read the information.
Depends on how his generator slide mechanism is powered, I don't know. Winnebago uses 45# air pressure to move the generator step cover and generator slide. Some are 12VDC powered, can't speak to them. Manual of course speaks for itself.

you say it started good so why do you need to slide it open? That said no one has mentioned that if it a mamual open slide you might find pins which lock the tracks together.

HWH uses air pressure to move the generator slide, it has a locking pin in the rails, and a caution that if the pin is not in the rails, during a hard stop the generator can slide out.
