I had a 2016 Coachmen, and it had a Cummins Onan 4kw, not a Kohler. Weird.

Mine had a bad fuel pump that allowed enough flow to start the genny, but not enough to keep it running at regular speed. Pump changed - - no more problem.

It could be a gummed up carburetor especially if it was not run a lot (or stored without using something like SEAFOAM or STABLE to treat the gas before winter).
I have a Onan that did the same thing and it ended up being the carb. Replaced the carb and away it went. Now you can try SEAFOAM to clean it or several other methods you will find on this site first. Good luck and let us know what the final solution is when you find it.
