That likely applies to many household products... especially those meant for toilet bowl use. Just don't eat, drink, or be careless handling SPC.
After all we are just putting it in a toilet!
How many have & use peroxide or bleach around the house? You don't want to inhale, ingest, or splash them in your eyes... doesn't mean you can't have it in the house for proper use.
If anyone is affraid... don't use it just use lots of water... itscas c safe as you'll get. [emoji3]

Happy Camper is 99% monohydrate. Look it up, then decide if it's worth the cost.
“Monohudrate” is a chemical term. It just means there is one proportion of water to the other chemicals. Lots of chemicals come in mono hydrate form. For Happy Camper that includes the “salts” the chemicals are classified in later pages. Notice “salts” is also a chemical term meaning the combination of a positive ion and negative ion, not just sodium chloride aka table salt. Happy Camper doesn’t disclose the chemicals in their formula, just the generic type of chemical -mono hydrate salts.

(I actually did graduate with a BS in Chemistry and did most of a grad program in Biochemistry)

Any insights as to how/why the monohydrate works for thisvapplication?

I understand the reason SPC works is it provides O2 to the tank that promotes aerobic bacteria and they are the ones that do not stink the way anaerobic bacteria does. I've added a 12V fish tank bubbler to my boat holding tank and it has been very effective at eliminating the previous very stinky tank.

No chemicals needed. For ~$50, add a Tornado Flush. This allows you to clean out the inside of your tank pretty good with each flush. Here is a link to a how-to project I did...

I'm not particularly concerned about "keeping my waste tank squeaky clean". For me, it's all about keeping my sensors reading correctly. But being able to rinse/clean the inside of the tank does help to reduce odors, buildup, etc which makes me feel good about it also.

Happy flushing!
Chris
