Has anyone noticed an oil shortage?

I am changing the oil on our motorhome, and generator this week, and have been having some trouble getting oil. I normally order oil off Amazon, and it seems my first 3-4 choices for oil are either out of stock, or will not ship for 2-6 weeks, I ended up ordering Castrol Edge Extended life 5W30 which was in stock at half the price it is going for locally, which arrived in 3 days. I then went to try to buy a couple of quarts of SAE 30 locally for my Onan 4000, and out of 4 auto parts stores, plus Tractor supply, in town I could only find house brand SAE 30 in one of them. I ended up ordering 6 1Quart bottles of Valvoline SAE 30 conventional oil from Amazon, it and Royal Purple Synthetic were the only SAE 30 oils I could find in stock on Amazon in quart bottles for immediate shipment, many others showed 2-3 week delays. While in Auto Zone yesterday the girl at the counter told me they had been selling out of 15W40 every week, and if I needed any it was best to be there when they restocked on Tuesdays. While in there I look the prices and 15W40 was going for $39 for a 5 quart jug, I also have some diesel equipment, so when I got home I looked on Amazon, and after a bit of shopping found they had Rotella T5 15W40 for $20.22 per gallon, so I ordered a couple of gallons, it has an estimated delivery date of Sept 15 (nearly a month from now), there were other brands with sooner dates, but at higher cost per quart.

I would be amazed if NAPA was ever short on oil. They have oil specials every month.

Yup, I needed some transmission fluid for my Jeep, Walmart was almost out. They were also out of several of my preferred brands/grades of oil.

Haven't looked lately though.

Last time I walked through Tractor Supply they had a sale on the Valvoline Blue, which is what I use in my ISC. I think ~$13/gallon, I bought all they had and have it on a shelf ready for my next oil change.

Was at my local Walmart two days ago and noticed plenty of oil in plenty of viscosities. They had 15W-40 Rotella stocked up high at the end of one of the rows. They also had several quart bottles of their Supertech 30W HD for engines oil. No oil shortage but the prices sure have come up!

I think a lot of the quick change oil shops buy their oil from Walmart. So if you go there after one of those places does, you might find empty shelves.

Yes, normally buy Motorcraft synthetic and filters from Wal-Mart for both our cars and MH engine. Gave up after a month of checking and Amazon Prime delivered all in one day and for less. My WM does have plenty of 15w 40 and 30W, but their oil stocks shelves have been about 50% empty for a while.

I was at my local Walmart this week getting new tires, and during the time I mentioned how the price of their road hazard protection had gone up a lot. The auto center manager mentioned about the price, and then out of the blue start talking about how they were having a hard time getting certain things, and the auto center Pennzoil (bulk not quart or gallon jugs) was one thing he said they had a very hard time getting within the past few months. I didnít look at the shelves to see what they had though, but a casual glance looked like the shelves were stocked with quart and gallon jugs. Donít know the brands.

I heard/read a rumor Amazon is having shipping problems. I second NAPA for oil N filter needs, and oddly enough they seem to be less expensive than Amazon.

No shortage on oil around NE Florida but like gas and diesel, prices are way up as to what they were a year or 2 ago.

I had a hard time finding Rotella 15/40 here as well. One place even called around for me and was told by Napa that there was going to be a shortage until Sept because they hadn't got back to full production after covid.

But I had a flyer in the mail when I got home from UFA that had Rotella on sale, so I guess they got some.

Walmart in Southern California hasn't had Rotella in stock for several months. My second source is Tractor Supply, none there either. I happened to check Tractor Supply online and found that the 2.5-gallon jugs of Rotella, that I normally buy, were available online but not in the store. I ordered 10 gallons, and it came in at the store in about 5 days.
