Heir double pair repair

Today I decided to replace the failed seals and spacers in one of the windows on Georgie Girl. It took 4hrs from window removal to reinstall.

1) removed window from motorhome
2) Disassembled window and removed panes from frame work
3) used razor knife to separate panes
4) used white vinegar to totally clean all build up from the the inside of the panes.
5) installed 1/4 pane spacer with the foil side to outside a 1/4 inch from the edge of the pane of glass.
6) installed 2nd pane of glass on 1 st pane of glass keeping panes aligned.
7) Sealed panes of glass with spacer sealing caulk.
8) installed panes of glass back in the framework.
9) Reassembled window assemblies
10) installed butyl tape to frame.
11) Reinstalled Window in motorhome.

Wow what a difference

Great job. I sent a link to this to my friend, who has the same problem. He was telling me about it today and wondering what to do. Thanks for the post.

Congratulations. Looks great. I've done about a dozen windows and describe it as fairly easy, but a bit tedious. Hardest part is removing the handle from the slider.

Anyone considering doing it themselves can get the supplies on Amazon. C.R. Laurance is the manufacturer of the super space and sealer. Wear gloves when applying the sealer because that stuff is goooooey. Setting the caulk tube in the sun to warm it up makes applying a whole lot easier. Get the nylon guide block too. Note, there's a limited shelf life to the spacer material once opened as is contains a dessicant.

I used my seal a meal to vacuum seal the spacer to keep moisture out of what was left over for later use.

SeaBreaser. This is good information and I’m willing to tackle the project on my door window.

Can you expand on the materials that Amazon has and what I should be looking for.

I got my supplies through Dk hardware online

This was what I used for all my windows, (4 large and 6 small)
The spacer is SS1466BL 1/4 x1/4 super spacer (2 rolls) $86.49 each
The sealant is CR laurence 877 Silicone Foam and Metal Spacer I.G. Sealant ( 5 tubes) $ 15.89 each

Home Depot:
Tub of towels
Box of latex gloves
From Sam's Club:
Gallon of white vinegar
Lint free cleaning rags
From Ace Hardware;
Roll of butyl tape (2)

From tool box:
Utility knife and blades
Razor scaper and blades
Phillip's head screw driver

From my kitchen;
Seal a meal to vacuum seal the remaining spacer until used.

You only have one hour to get the sealant around the window after placing the panes together so the desiccant doesn't get filled with moisture.

From self;
Patience to wait for things to set for reassembly and installation

Have fun and take it slow for top notch results.

Total cost to do approximately $ 350 for all windows plus time
Compared to other options:

1)As quoted by rv glass company in Lakeland Florida
Replace all glass panes with auto glass. 7329.00

2) replace all windows with new window units 6900 plus my time.

Since the double panes don't have (ever had?) inert anhydrous gas did you leave a vent/weep hole somewhere?

No you don't leave a weep hole totally seal the pane if you leave a weep hole you will defeat the repair and windows will refog

Your weep hole is in the frame to let water out. Panes are sealed to hold gas in, thats why they fog seal leaked.
