HELP: jacking slide out to replace spur gear

Does anyone have experience with jacking up a full-wall slide (FWS) out to work on the gears.
We have a '13 Journey 42E and one of the gears on the FWS is stripping teeth. I have the gear, but cannot quite figure out how to get the weight off the slide to replace it.
Using a post jack I've tried lifting with the slide 6" out, half way, and then fully extended. In each case, the weight comes off the roller (next to the gear) and it spins, but there appears to be weight on the gear itself. I've considered loosening the motor bolts, but am concerned that, if there is still weight on the gear, I will not be able to get it back together.
Any thoughts or advice is appreciated. We full time and finding somebody to do the work has not been something easily done.

Welcome to the forum.

I caught your thread over on the Winnie Owners forum and saw where somebody referred to you check out Jbmsr's posts.

They may have been referring to a post where he mentions using floor jacks on the slide to replace the rollers THIS ONE

He has other posts on the forum about his full wall slide on a Tour too plus some other video clips from what I remember.

Let's see if Jbmsr catches your thread here and responds. If not, maybe you can Private Message him to inquire about getting some tips about your problem ...go HERE for the PM function

Hopefully others will respond and give you some helpful tips in the meantime.

Thanks! I did get a message from another member and now have the jacking issue solved. Hopefully, the rest will be an easy fix.

Hey Dan, that’s great news you solved your problem. How about telling everyone what you did so you can pass on your knowledge and experience?

I don't know any details about your system, but I would think the weight of the slide should be on the rollers, not the gear. You say weight is still on the gear after the rollers spin freely. That may be the problem with the gear losing some teeth. Possibly something to look at.

Not quite sure I understand the problem, but slides are moved by putting wood blocking underneath to distribute the load and using hydraulic jacks to lift them. For a properly rated jack, they really aren't that heavy.

If the slide needs to be removed, that is a much larger problem as all needs to be disconnected first. But, several have made wood cribs on wheels for the jack to drop the slide onto which is then on wheels to slide away from the coach. But it is highly likely you don't need to do that to service a gear / wheels / track.
