Hi amperage draw
Hey all, I recently acquired a 2011 Winnebago
Adventurer gas V10 Ford and the chassis battery seems to have excessive battery draw without anything turned in. I tested with an inline amp meter and pegs 15A draw when chassis switch on. 0 when off.
Is that normal? I think not.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Not familiar with your chassis, but I agree, a 15 amp draw on a system that is supposedly shut off seems excessive and abnormal. Not being familiar with the chassis or gas V 10, I cannot imagine what would cause such a high draw without you noticing something moving, heating, or lit up.
Just gotta ask. Are you sure you are reading the amperage correctly on your meter?
Does your coach have any cold weather heating elements for the engine oil/coolant or other engine system?

Test the alternator by switching battery off, disconnection the large wire on the back of the alternator, tape it up, and switch the battery back on.
You may also want to look at the boost/isolation solenoid. If its on, or jumped, you may be sending your chassis voltage to the lower voltage house batteries.

Do you have tank heaters, they are 12v and may be switched on or have a switch malfunction, if not start pulling fuses one at a time.

With everything supposedly Off, the draw on the chassis batteries should be less than 1 amp, so 15A is a huge draw. Maybe a hydraulic pump running, or a slide motor? Those draw from the chassis in a 2011 model. Start removing major fuses to see what branch circuit stops the excessive amperage.

Hi amperage draw
I started doing some testing on the voltage draw, cycled the chassis switch a few times and now only draws a little over 1 amp.
Must have been a stuck relay.
Thanks to all for your assistance.

1 amp is still high - your battery won't last long if no shore power.
