Hot water heater question

Today's a new day so I get to ask as many dumb questions that I want. Today's question is if I'm plugged in to shore power or running my generator does my hot water heater use propane? Or does it have electricity capability? And no I don't know what kind of hot water heater I have but I know it's 5 gallons. How can I find out what kind of hot water heater I have?

Many RVs have separate On/Off switches for the HWH electric and propane. You can run them both at the same time to heat the water quicker.

It would really help if you would provide some information

Such as Year/Brand/Model of RV

Same for water heater.........
Open outside panel for water heater.
Look for brand/model on side of frame or ANY identifying info

5 gallons?
Would NOT be a standard rv water heater such as a Suburban or Atwood

Water Heater Problem

I have only used this site 1 time over the 5 years and I may be posting to a subject looking for answers but it's current so here I am.

I have an Atwood unit with auto ignite that will only start if the cover door is open which suggests it has something to do with air. I have replaced the ignition unit and the regulator and it works perfectly when the door is open (continues to work when door is closed but seldom will start again when the water cools off). The igniter fires (clicking) but will not ignite. Any suggestions where an adjustment should be applied?

Although this is not a thread you started the OP hasn't responded so might as well try to answer your post.

First off....
Post year & model of your Atwood WH.

What does flame look like.....Blue and Strong slight roar
OR Yellow and kinda quiet?

Have you do ANY cleaning....remove burner tube (clean with small bottle brush) and make sure burner spreader plate at end of tube is parallel with end of tube, remove gas orifice (screws into outlet of gas valve) soak in alcohol and then blow thru it (NO HIGH PRESSURE), run wire thru combustion/exhaust chamber....out exhaust/tie rag to wire then pull back thru to 'sweep' 'U' tube, wipe spark electrode/igniter with emery cloth to remove any soot/carbon.
Make sure spark electrode wire terminal to transformer is clean/tight

Reassemble ...
Gas orifice, burner tube, spark electrode...making sure mounting screw is clean/tight (ground source)
Adjust air shutter (slotted tube on burner tube) is OPEN 1/4 then fire off propane flame and fine adjust air shutter so flame is BLUE/Slight ROAR

Water Heater Problem

Hi to all, after the post I noticed a link to Atwood Trouble Shooting Water Heater. It was a manual with solutions and the old adage, "if all else fails read the instructions" which I did and followed them making sure I made the alignment of the components as directed. Presto, it works perfect.

Thank you all f taking time to read & reply - great turn-around time and much appreciated.

Regards,
