If the house batteries don't have a removable caps to check the water level. Then you may have the wrong type of battery for the house.
You want Deep Cycle type, not ones that have CCA labeled on them.

How many removable caps are on each battery?

Here is a class for 12V systems in RV's.

In the middle of a serious storm, so I can't look at the batteries or take a photo as asked. But they are EverStart Marine Batteries. They are what was in the RV when I bought it, and only 10 months old and still under warrentee, so that's what they were replaced with. I have to say, I am pretty nervous about it now.

marine batteries are not the best choice for rv batteries as they are not true deep cycle batteries. they are ''hybrids''. this should not be the cause of your problem.
here other websites about batteries and electrical systems.
