How do you justify your motorhome MPG?

You have no room to talk. The difference in what our coaches cost will likely pay for all the fuel my "ginormous RV" could possibly use the entire time I own it?

Never see a Brinks truck following a hearse either. Spent it while you are able to enjoy it. No justification necessary!!

Most of our camping trips are within 100-200 miles from home. spending $100-$150 on gas and getting a nice spot on the water in the mountains off the beaten path, fully furnished with our stuff is way better than driving a car and having to stay in hotels/motels. If we take longer trips and choose to spend the money on gas instead of hotels and restaurants so be it. We have kids that live outside Nashville and Chicago and it's really not that much more when you figure out the difference in cost between driving the car and hotels/restaurants.

I justify a MH the same way I justify my 40 ft Boat, or a 4 BR Home.

What's the alternative ? Planes, hotels, rental cars.

Here's another for you; being in comfortable and familiar setting when ill.

I was up all night with my son who got sick. Both of us would much rather be in our familiar rv (and beds!) than trying to "make do" in a hotel room.

I also think DH would have preferred to have his own medicine cabinet and fridge in the rv, rather than me having to send him out in the wee hours to find an open grocery store.

Ok, I will admit I do prefer that he got sick all over a hotel floor rather than my rv floor. ;-)

I justify it because I enjoy the time away from home with my wife and dogs. There is no better way for me to keep the family together and happy. Walking the dogs around the campground is also pretty darn good exercise for all of us.

Justification not needed since we worked to earn the money and now we spend it any manner we choose. Plus we get to have out pet with us. Priceless!
