How many miles do you drive on a given trip?
Getting ready to do some 1000+ mile trips this year. Being new to MH driving, what is a reasonable distance to cover per day driving a MH. In a SUV I usually like to do 500-600 miles. I'm 52, but get tired easily (sleepy) so I like frequent breaks and a good night rest. What should I expect?

We usually do between 300 & 400 miles a day.

We are in our 60's and find that 300 miles per day is good for us. We usually leave 9 ish in the A.M. and try and be in the campground by 3 P.M. This allows us to enjoy the trip and have time to unwind in the evening.

It depends. If I'm in a lot of traffic where the driving is tense. I drive less. If I'm on open road (Interstate Hwus) I drive more. That said I usually drive 300-400 a day. Another factor is how many days in a row do you have to travel this distance. Three 400 mi. days in a row and I have to stop for a while. Just sayin'

Especially in the MH I don't like to rush. 250-300 miles a day. Leave out not too early, get to the next stop mid afternoon which allows some time to relax and maybe explore a bit. With two drivers and if there is a deadline, 400-500 miles have done.

I am still working so the first and last days of a trip are tough. I am 51 and can still handle 12 hour days behind the wheel. So that makes 700 to 800 miles.

I try to limit it to 300-400 a day max, more than that and it's like working (I drive a bus for a living). 200-300 is a far more comfortable pace, and what we are planning for our 8 week trip this summer.
Sometimes on the way home, if we are in a hurry, 700-800 has happened. Returning from our Christmas trip I did 1400 miles with only a four hour sleep break, and a couple of hour long walk arounds. Not a fun way to travel.

300 miles is pushing it for us. We leave about 9:30 and are parked by happy hour with lots of stops in between. We travel the scenic highways 90% of the time and leave the Interstates to the truckers and those that don't want to, or don't have time to enjoy the country.

We've been doing 200-300 miles a day. This trip isn't about driving. It's about (I didn't say it first) the journey, not the destination.

The travel is part of the vacation, and a good part of the fun. We try to travel less than 250 miles, preferably 200 miles a day. 200miles is about 4 hours of drive time. Sometimes, like on a trip to Las Vegas we make the entire 280 miles in one long day. We used to travel to Sacramento to visit friends, 380 miles, in one very long day. Last time we made the trip we broke it down to two days. Just too long and too tiring.
Just our thing. Happy Trails.

I am just the opposite of the other replies. If I have a destination I am going to, I drive as far as I possibly can to get there. I will rest when I am there.
A short 1,000 mile trip would take you a week to get there only going 200 miles a day.

This here.
I haven't done 700, but 600+ has become our routine for our winter vacation.
