How many people have read their owner's manual

It's interesting how many of the same questions pop up here time, after time, after time. That got me to thinking about how many people actually read that 6 inch tome they give you with all of the operation and service manuals etc. Anybody care to fess up?

I am a manual reader. I have probably read my six inch 6 or 7 times cover to cover in the 5 years I have owned it. I also consult it often for short periods.

Read thru mine more then once and continually have to go back to them. That’s with 30+ years in the maintenance industry

I read owners manuals about once a year. Instead of reading the paper manual I look it up online, the search feature makes it much more convenient.

When I bought my 1996 Winnebago Itasca Sunrise, it had the manual in a blue binder. I have read it front to back several times!

I've read most of them, although I don't understand a lot of what I'm reading. That's when I ask here.

Useless TT manual

I am a manual reader, but I have not read my car manual cover to cover. I have read my Kodiak Cub TT manual. It was hopelessly vague. Vital information was buried in useless drivel.

I loaded as many applicable manuals, drawing and documents I could find onto my iPad. The big black bag is tucked away in the motorhome, but I rarely need it.

The stuff on the iPad is my first go-to source.

I can honestly say I at least skimmed through all of the information and manuals that came with our Minnie Winnie. The more important stuff related to safety was read thoroughly. Its utterly ridiculous to think one can simply jump into a complex system like an RV and expect to know how to operate it without reading the "instructions"

This makes me think of something I learned early in my Air Force air traffic control career. I read an aviation safety publication written by a safety expert who said passengers in airliners are generally cavalier about their own safety. To illustrate, he said to look around at your fellow passengers and take note of how many are either listening intently to the flight attendant's safety spiel and/or reading the emergency information cards in the seatback in front of them.

I've done that many times and found it stunning that virtually no one pays attention to the safety briefing or reads the cards.

Considering that we RVers are piloting huge vehicles weighing many tons, we have the obligation to ourselves, our families, and everyone else on the roads to operate it safely. That cannot happen if we don't take the time to read the owner's manuals.

Manual for TT/FW/TH are SOOOOOO Generic that they are basically USELESS

Pen/Paper in hand go thru your RV and wite down EACH appliance/component Brand-Model then spend some time Goggle Searching
'Brand Model Service Manual'
Then download print out ....put in 3 ring binder and you will now have a Specific Manual for your stuff

Takes some time/effort but in the end WORTH IT

Every page, multiple times; reading manuals and blueprints and researching is what got me promoted and into Management in my career; I was amazed at how many working under me would do things wrong, some multiple times, and still not read the book that was in front of them. Reading Skills, education and comprehension learning disabilities? Reflection of our schools?
