How old is too old to be allowed entrance

From what I understand Rv's at a certain age will no longer be admitted to a campground as it is deemed too old. How old is too old?. Thanks

Our 1999 Bounder has never been denied at any park and we have been all over the U.S. and some of Canada. Chuck

Where are you getting your information? It sounds like you are making a generalization about all campgrounds.

Yes, some parks have a 10-year rule, but it's their park/their rules. They can do that. Also, not all parks have that rule. A vast majority of them do not.

Different rules for different parks but the xx year limit is one that frequently has a lot of wiggle room. If your rig doesn't look like a junker I wouldn't worry about it, usually the reason for the rule is to have an out for refusing the stuff that looks like it should be scrapped, and to prevent abandonment of RVs on the property which can cost a lot to dispose of.

YUP!

Have been to a number of "10 year rule parks" with our (at the time) 15 year old Foretravel U240. Some asked for a photo, some looked at it when we checked in.

As stated, the rules are there to keep junkers out, not clean, well maintained older coaches.

May be some parks with a hard and fast rule, but noise level in the scheme of things.

I have been thinking of antique plates for our camper and no one ever asked us for its age.

Each time this topic is discussed, it surely will boil down to one thing ...it's all about APPEARANCE as has been said.

We worked at the desk of two rather prestigious RV resorts with the "10 year old rule" and that is what it is all about. If a customer had a 30 -year old vintage RV that was restored or pristine with a meticulously maintained exterior, we'd obviously want to let them in. Somebody with a clean and well-maintained 15 to 20 year old motorhome, the owner said "let them in !!' ...money is money after all.

However, he did tell us we had to allow a ten year old RV that was dirty and had body damage because something about a prior lawsuit he had to deal with so he said since the "rule" is the ten year mark, then he felt obligated to allow them so that's what we did but I don't think I can remember a motorhome that was under ten years old that was so bad in appearance as to be a distraction.

This is more of a problem in some regions than others, since buying our current coach in 2016, and traveling for an average of about 75 nights per year until covid hit, and around 40-45 nights a year since (excluding 2020) ranging from Florida to Arizona, north west as far as Wyoming, and north east as far as Tennessee, we have ran across the 10 year rule twice, both times at parks we were researching online as potential stops, then skipped them rather than trying to jump through their hoops for an exception. Once we ran into a 20 year strict rule no exceptions according to the parks web site, our coach was 19 at the time, we just stayed there for a night or two, and the place was full of ran down circa 15-20 year old low end travel trailers with cardboard and duct tape sealing up broken windows, etc.

What I’ve found out the 10 year rule give the camp ground a reason to not let you in. If you keep the MH in good working condition ( not leaking fluids) and good visual condition shouldn’t have a problem.

A friend wanted to park his travel trailer at a campground. The trailer was old but meticulously maintained and clean. They told him it was too old to be allowed. Next a family member went from Northern Ohio to Kansas and he said he had a hard time finding a campground that would let him in. This was an older Class C not pristine but not total junk either.
