How to disconnect broken slide motor so I can use the manual crank?

My slide motor was damaged and does not work properly. I am trying to disconnect it so that I can use the manual crank. I can't seem to figure out what parts on here to disconnect. Can anyone with experience please take a look at the photos and tell me what parts to change?

Also, I previously broke the manual crank. I'm pretty sure that the little round rod used to have metal pegs that went through the holes in the square bar, but I broke them using too much force putting this in manually on a previous occasion when I did not know to disconnect the motor. So I need to both
1) Fix the manual crank
and
2) Disconnect the motor so I can use the manual crank

Any advice is immensely appreciated with this. The local mechanic is not available for at least two months.

Also it is not visible in the first photo of the second post, but that gear is connected with another one that is flush with the metal. I'm guessing that there is something hidden in there behind that flat gear which is what allows the manual crank to pull the slide in and out.

Sorry, writing that out in text is probably much more confusing than a photo. Here is what I am referring to. I think that if I can disconnect the motor and repair the round and square rods, that turning them will cause this pair of gears to move the slideout. I may be wrong about this but I can't figure what else these gears are for if not that there is a mechanism behind the metal plate.

Additionally, the end of the square rod is still extended out fully even though the broken motor pulled in the slide. This makes it harder to repair the round bit because they no longer are at the same distance. There is no "give" to the square rod, it is firmly stuck in place (I think because of the motor). I am willing to put some muscle into forcing that square bar to turn without using the crank, but I definitely cannot do so until the motor is disconnected. Also any advice on how to realign this stuff would be most appreciated.

Lots of luck.

I WAS HAVING PROBLUM WITH MINE AND A COUPLE OF TIMES WHEN WE WERE AT A CAMP SITE AND IT WAS TIME TO LEAVE, THE SLIDE WOULD NOT CONTRACT INTO THE MOTOR HOME.
AFTER CHECKING IT OUT I FOUND THAT THE PINDS IN THE CROSS SHALF BROKE .
I PUT A NAIL ]IN PLACE OF THE PIN AND I GOT THE ROOM IN. I then found A TRAILER REPAIR SHOP AND THEY PUT IN TWO MORE PINDS WHICH TOOK CARE ON THAT.
TRAILER SHOPA KNOW MORE ABOUT SLIDES THEN SOME OTHER SHOPS.
JUST A THOUGHT.

Thanks for your reply, Walter! I don't see any broken pins going crosswise against the rack/pinion strip but I will keep an eye on that in the future. This particular problem was initiated when I hooked up my new batteries wrong and sent 24V through my RV. I've fried some electronics and now the motor does not work properly so I want to disconnect it. It will be two months before my mechanic has any availability so I am trying to get the slide working manually in the meantime.

Admittedly, this is a shot in the dark, since the images don't show detail of how the motor is attached. But if the motor is fried, it's going to have to come off anyway. I would assume that removing the motor and its drive gearing would also permit the slide machinery to move, if some manual torque were applied. So, faced with a similar situation, I'd probably be looking at removing the motor and its drive gearing to see if that's the case.

Slide out Manual for RBK electric system.. Electric motor System on my Georgie Boy did not have gears. This may help. Also my slide out had 2 switches, One turned it on and released the brake at the motor. Other switch selected extend/retract.

There are several manuals for slide out systems in the files section here on IRV2. http://www.irv2.com/forums/downloads.php?do=cat&id=15
