I have been messing around with this system for the past few days. I did some minor maintenance to it and it seems to working OK (after a few initial problems). At least for hot water. I have not tried the heater yet as it is about 103 here right now!

I have two questions:

1. I have a domestic hot water heater also. I assume this is primarily for when you are not connected to power as there is a red light indicating the pilot is out. Or during the summer when you don't need a heater. The manual says there should/could be a 3 way valve to short loop the water through the heat exchanger only and not through the heating system. OK, sounds good...where would that valve be? I see one 3 way valve, but I don't believe it is the one...but I could be wrong...

2. When the system is running, the display says "Hurricane Heat stopped, thermostats off". I have hot water and have the only thermostat I could find set to 70 (the inside of the coach never gets below 80 due to the heat here right now). That thermostat is in the back by the washer/dryer in the bedroom. So...is there another thermostat somewhere? Am I doing something wrong? I did want to test out the heater but can't figure out how to do this.

I have read as much as I can on this but just can't figure these two items out...any help would be much appreciated!!!!

Hello Craigt

Try bringing the thermostat up to 99 to see if the heater comes on. I think the "Hurricane Heat stopped, thermostats off" message you get is because the system does not see a demand for heat from the thermostat and assumes that it is off. Not sure where your three way valve is, but mine is inside the large metal box that contains all of the Huricane components. You are lucky to have a domestic water heater too. This is a good back-up. But, you don't need AC power to run the Hurricane water heater or heater. Just battery power and diesel fuel. If you want to give me your email address, I have a couple of manuals with good diagrams in them that I could email you.

Craigt, heres a link to the download page for the Hurricane manuals. Not sure what model you have, so I don't know if the manuals I have apply to your unit.

My husband and I have a Hurricane system also that we can't figure out !!!
we have a problem with water pressure in the faucets--(if it is good in the kitchen, it's bad in the bath etc) and in another forum they said it could be some valve open/closed in the Hurricane system---but we don't know where to check !! email is albertagayle@yahoo.com
