HWH fluid leak

I thought I had a fuel leak on my 2004 Foretravel U270 due to a petro smell, but could fing no leaks.
In checking all the bays I found the odor coming from the HWH series 2000 leveling system. There was fluid sitting in the pan and fluid around the relief valve on top of the unit.
Should the unit be emitting fluid when operating, or do I have a problem.
Thanks, Woody

You have a problem Houston!

No, really; the first thing to do is check the fluid level, if fluid was added when the jacks were extended it over-filled the reservoir, then when the jacks retracted the excess fluid was pushed out the overflow in the reservoir cap.
HWH fluid should be approx. ½"-1" from top of reservoir when all jacks and room extensions are retracted.
If the reservoir did not overfill and run out, then there actually is a problem with a leaking hyd. line_somewhere.

the only thing that will cause fluid to flow out of the vent cap on the hwh fluid tank is if you overfill it. it has happened when any type of fluid is put in the tank. when floods happen, water can get into the hwh tank, the rear end of the chassis, and other places that fluids will accumulate.
always follow mfg recommendations when checking any fluids on your coach.
please dont just assume.

Hopefully the person added HWH fluid or Dextron III, and not hydraulic oil.
