HWH jacks

Is a retracted jack able to support the weight of the RV? Want to build a block support under the jack pads with 2x6 wolmanized wood. When the air is let out of the air bags and the chassis now rests on the pilings under the jack. Is a retracted jack able to carry the weight of the MH, there will be no pressure in the jack to carry the load. Is there a stop or support for the cylinder at the top of jack housing cylinder?

The stop is cylinder butted to end.
What is the purpose of what you want to do with it like this.?
You need to careful of what your describing . The front jack should be planted well first when leveling ,as not to twist the frame and pop out windshield.
In the what if realm of possibilities, if air bags wouldn't go back up for some reason. It would be stuck on the block/s in fairly low to ground condition.
To work on air leveling best to run MH up on ramps for safety.

When I queried HWH they responded that it is OK to store either way... jacks extended or retracted.
I have build 4 blocks and store my MH as you describe... w tires inflated to / close to sidewall max P and tires on scrap plywood (covered but level gravel surface)

If air system fails extend jacks and block in raised position. Chance of air & hydraulic failure simultaneously low and yhen one would need aux jacks.
If jacks extended and hydraulics fail MH is down anyway.
Even w suspension down and jacks extended not much room to work under.

153S...
This is for storage and I'm assuming level surface.
Do you extend jacks with suspension aired up in all sites?

Thank You All. I now realize how vague my question is with information. My neighbor has a late 90's Gulf Stream with 2 airbags/axle and it will be in storage outside in Ohio. I did mine for the last 3 years but it was easier because mine is 8 airbags and there are vertical chassis members that I rest it on.
Thank You again.

For winter storage, I leave my jacks up and put a set of wood blocks under each jack. I then dump the air bags. The coach will lower down on these blocks without extending the jacks. This takes the weight off the tires. I asked (Paul) Azpete, the resident HWH expert, about this procedure and said it is OK.

The answer is No it will not harm anything to block under the retracted jacks. In fact that is the preferred place to block up the chassis.
