HWH Leveling Spring Replacement Source
Hi all,
Looking for replacement springs for my HWH jacks on a 30' Class A.
The rig is a '96 and the springs seem to be original to it. The last time I tried to retract the jacks we realized one of the hooks had broken off of one of the passenger rear retract springs.
I've done the research and believe the HWH replacement is R3847 based on the OD and number of coils but I'm having a hard time finding replacements in stock at any of my usual sources and a lot of sites show them as out of stock or unavailable.
Here's the question, does anyone know of a non-factory alternative that is the same basic size / spring rate that might be easier to find in stock online? Or is there a new / updated part number for these since I've noticed that the design has changed slightly?
I checked McMastercarr and nothing they have in this OD goes anywhere near long enough.
Here are the specs I've gathered based on the broken spring:
OD 1.625"
# Coils: 60 (HWH says 63 but also notes it can be slightly different)
Wire Diameter: .180"
Overall Length (inside of hook to inside of hook): 12.75"
I'll be traveling with the RV in a few weeks and was hoping to find a replacement or alternative in stock somewhere online so I can swap at least the broken one prior to the trip. A couple RV shops online show listings for them but are either out of stock or redirect to the same Amazon listing that says currently unavailable.
I know I can reach out directly to HWH but I'm thinking it's unlikely I'll be able to get the replacement springs in time.
Thanks in advance,
hotrod

Replaced the springs on my HWH jacks. Found the best prices at:
https://www.hannarv.com/
Get the model number of your jacks first, I found that my front jacks were different from the rear. Here is a chart on spring sizes.
https://www.hannarv.com/Content/file...wh%20chart.jpg
A note of caution. Per the chart, and upon investigation, I found the recommended spring for my rear jacks was 18" long, however, the distance between the mounting brackets on my jacks when fully retracted was only 16". If I went with the recommended springs, my jacks would never fully retract. I went with a HWH spring rated the same that was 14" long.
Here is the data on mine.
Front Jacks APP40506 (9000#) replacement springs #R3847
HWH Rear Jacks AP8805 (12000#) replacement springs R34692 (14") vs
R38956 (18")

The only listing I could find for R3847's on Amazon is the old style and listed as currently unavailable... There are some other random springs and things that come up when I search for that part number but none of those appear to be comparable.

Thanks, checking out their site now, I see a lot of out of stocks on the HWH springs with them too... Crazy to find yet another item out of stock...
Thanks for the callout on the length, I'll do that measurement and confirm if the front and back use the same jacks.
