HWH room retract solenoid release nut stuck and stripped

I have a 2003 winnebago adventurer 38G, w22 chasis. The living room slide is stuck in extended position, will not move at all. Tried the manual retract but the 1/4 nut on the retract solenoid is stuck and now stripped. given the location of the solenoid it is extremally difficult access to get any other tools onto the nut. Is there any other way to release the pressure to get the slide back in manually. Its a HWH 310 series

you can take a set of locking pliers, and hook them to the end of the stud sticking out. pull it while some one hits retract.
i would replace that solenoid quickly there are several outlets on the internet.. i can help you locate one if needed.

A tech had to loosen the connection on a hydraulic line once on mine in order to get some of my jacks to retract. Put a catch pan or small bucket under it to catch the fluid that comes out.

When I went to replace solenoids on my Dewald, I found easiest to remove screws and pull whole tray assembly out for access? Is that an option? I left everything connected but was able to rotate enough to help immensely.

Hit hardware store.. get special socket for stripped bolts heads.. [ not easy outs ] .. usually a small set of 4 or 5. Sockets . they cut into bad head of bolt... works great.. .. anywhere from 20 to 40 bucks.. but well worth it.. than just tighten enough to hold.. get a new one on.. if you can find it..
Loosening hose and using a pan to caught as much oil as you can.. should work..
Good luck and keep us posted

Were you talking a electrically operated HYDRAULIC SOLENOID, or and electrical forward/ reverse solenoid? I was referring to electrical F/R in previous response, but the emergency BYPASS VALVE on mine is RED, and a knurled finger turn. (Some use a spring loaded, that you pull and 1/4-turn?)= No tool required

I found on HWH Leveling Jacks BYPASS, THEY use a LEVER cam-action bypass valve? The FILES area of this website has a HWH SERVICE MANUAL?

There are at least FOUR different styles of HWH solenoid valves depending on age. One uses the lever. One uses a T-handle. One uses a hex nut. One cannot be manually released without removing it and letting the fluid leak out. Also, there are a number of different service manuals depending on model.

I'd expect AZPETE's advice to be right on.

Thinking further, wondering if this bypass valve you are having trouble with is SUPPOSED to turn clockwise to release, and you are trying to turn CCW? E.g. Radiator valves give that confusing problem to many?
