So where does this leave those of us with PT units? Will Newmar offer a replacement or am I stuck spending 10k to make my motor home reliable?

fyi, I have had the same experience with Gary at PT. We have been to the factory twice and both times he has indicated that they do not have problems with these units.

I have been told that Newmar will not leave us high and dry. They are well aware of that problem some ownwers are having and are working on a solution

Update on our issues
Just before leaving on a 14 day trip our local tech finds that the cabinet switch is bad. PT says to bypass that switch, we don't need it. Then the day before we leave the heat is out again. Drive an hour to our tech to find that the tank temp switch that was replaced last year is bad again. We leave on our trip and I have the switch overnighted to our first stop and have to fix it myself.
Heat is working but cycling too often. Call PT and we get it right. On a positive note it did perform well for the week we just spent dry camping in cold weather.
Looking at the Aqua Hot propane version, I see it sells for 6K while the Twin Temp Junior sells for $3200. You get what you pay for? looks like Newmar went for the lowest bid. So if Newmar drops PT for the future where does that leave us? With a unit I do not trust? I have never discussed my troubles with Newmar, but I think it's time to start griping.

I have replaced 3 tank switches in about a years time. You can tell when they get bad as your cycle times get to the piont where it wont shut off. You would be good to talk to Newmar about so they know you are not happy. The more the people complain about them the better chance of getting action. It appears the PT has changed parts manufacture on some items and that has caused some problems. I beleive Newmar may be looking at getting the parts direct from the origonal suppliers
All i can say is Good luck

Newmar10,
When my tank switch fails, the entire unit will not even power up.
PT has led me to believe that the new parts suppliers are providing improved parts resulting in proper operation.
Just got home today but yesterday we got back to the coach in the afternoon to find the unit was shut down again. turned off the main power switch for 1/2 an hr. and when I turned it back on everything worked for the rest of our trip.
I just don't trust this unit and it has been worked on so many times it's starting to look like a dog's breakfast.

Now the electric backup has quit. Paid Family RV in San Jose 400.00. Still doesn't work. Guaranty RV in Junction City, OR is replacing a PT with the Oasis unit for another customer. They quoted me 8500 to replace mine with the Oasis diesel (which is in the new Newmars). I don't see any indication of Newmar taking any responsibility. The last time I tried to contact them they just forwarded my email to Gary with a request that he contact me. Perhaps it is time to consider class action?

I just retired from many years of plumbing, heating, gas fitting. Some of the most reliable appliances around are for marine use- they have to pass Coast Guard and other standards. Maybe take a look at this site, they offer engine heat, electric, and diesel input to heat hot water. Hurricane Heating System Models

The IRT company is the one building the Oasis unit that is being installed by Newmar now
