Exclamation I was wondering how often most casual campers actually use the RV.

My dream was to take it camping at least one weekend a month, mostly to the rivers and lakes around Middle Tennessee. I am so disappointed and feel like I just wasted a lot of money on a RV I'll barely use.

So why do you barely use it? Work, illness, RV broken? Don't tell me Covid. That's an excuse not a reason.

We use ours most months with the exception of Feb, for the most part no particular reason. We have gone throughout covid with no problems and will continue to do so.

We use ours 2-3 times a week. To the beach, to parks, to town for shopping, 5-6 week long hobby events per year, any travel that requires food, restroom, and rest if needed. When we want to stay somewhere for extended time we now vrbo or airbnb at the final destination. Downsizing to 20’ really upped our usage.

We have been full time for almost 8 years now. But before we went full time, we usually average one outing a month and sometimes two. But with the pandemic and travel, restrictions, I can see a definite slow down is necessary.

From October 2019 to November 2020, I put 19,000 miles on my coach.
I consider this my Covid Coach as I can go anywhere and not have to rely on motels/restaurants/public bathrooms.
Trip#1. Texas to Arizona (was going to Nevada to see Son stationed there w grandkids). This is when Covid hit and we returned homew/o making it to Nevada.
#2 I was home until mid-June and couldn't clean my garage any longer so took off to Illinois. there a week, traveled to Colorado. stayed two weeks, then to Nevada for the 4th and returned home late July.
#3 Traveled back to Colorado/Nevada/Texas.
#4 Texas to Ohio and back.
I am now scheduled to go to Arkansas mid March to have the double pane windows repaired then??? Weather dependent.
When I quit using it, I will sell it.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined us!

Congrats on the new rig! I don't see any reason why you can't take it out on weekends. Just stay away from other people! Be safe, have fun, and keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

We generally use ours twice a year. However, we take long trips. Each trip last six to eight weeks.

RV's and boats are the same in that sometimes our best intentions don't work out because of life. OTOH sometimes the memories are priceless and worth it.
For my wife and I some of our best memories are boating and camping with my kids and gkids. My kids will never forget the time the boat broke down and I was too stubborn to ask for a tow. We swam and walked the boat to the ramp while laughing so hard ......
On one camping trip at a Jellystone park we taught my two grandkids how to ride bikes without training wheels. That was 3 or 4 years ago and they still remember and are enjoying bike riding almost as much as gramps.

So, why haven't you been out? You mentioned weekends, so I'm assuming you are still working? Tennessee has numerous state parks that are open year round, even with the pandemic. I expect that some of your best outdoor spots are easier to get to during the off seasons. Here in Michigan, the quiet of the trails really stands out with fewer hikers. Get out and go!

We use our 5 weeks out of the year, that is how much vacation time I get per year with my job. We have to do a lot of planning due to both of us working and the kids school schedule. We enjoy taking it out monthly to work the kinks out on the freeway!

My wife and I have been Rving for 44 years. Our usage has changed over the years because of work and kids, but has been increasing every year. especially since retirement 10 years ago. We get ours out almost every month and do several long trips a year.

takes time

You'll get there. Got ours back in October. Haven't hit the road yet. Getting all the ins and out together. Hoping to head out in next couple of weeks. You will get your shot in your own time. You will enjoy it.
