Last Sept I traded my 01 Brave for an 05 Adventurer. In Dec I got my insurance renewal so I figured I'd shop around. Found a company that treats MH as a MH not a car and saved about 46%. Now that's Good News!
Now it's time to renew my registration. Checked with the Town Clerk and found out I'll owe $201.60 to the state and $2,248.50 to the town. That's the Bad News.
I wish "TAX FREE" NH would order their plates from those states that only charge around $30 or so.
Don't want to write those checks but at the same time I can't wait.

Bob, to be fair you also forgot to mention that NH has no sales tax nor income tax. Somehow they have to be able to pay for the goods and services that you residents require, i.e. police, road maintenance, schools, court systems, etc. I guess if you want to dance you have to pay the fiddler, Ken, '04 DSDP

Ken, your right. I come from a town of about 600 people zoned residential/agricultural and one area for recreation. No commercial zones. We contract for police, fire, ambulance and sanitation plus we are part of a regional school system, none of which are in our town. If it weren't for the vehicle registration income and property taxes we'd be in a world of hurt.
Even though I knew I'd pay more for the Adventurer the reality of it didn't sink in until I heard the amount due. My previous 2 MHs were Braves so I was used to that price.

Bob, I know full well what you are saying re the reality of receiving a personal propery tax bill on a new unit. Before relocating here to TN we spent 34+ years in MA and the last 3 were in Littleton, MA. We bought a new '02 DP in Feb.'02 and duly paid the Commonwealth the 5% sales tax and went merrily on our way. A year later we received the'02 excise tax bill in Mar.-they had forgotten to send it. Then in April we got the '03 excise tax bill. The first was $3100 and the second a little over $2800--$5900 in less than 30 days was a little more reality than I needed. Not the only reason; but, certtainly a conrtributing factor in our decision to finally sever ties with Taxachusetts. Ken...

Ron & Susan
Policy is underwritten by Progressive. I went through RV Advantage - Farm & City Insurance Services out of Forest City, IA. Phone 1-800-331-1520 website www.rvadvatage.com. Their advertisement said they have specials for Winnebago owners. Not sure if I would have received same quote going direct or through someone else.
