Insurance Claim?
Has anyone ever tried to claim windshield leakage through RV insurance? I have rust and a growing leak.

A leak due to rust will not be covered. Mechanical breakdowns or deterioration are excluded.

It's extremely unlikely to be covered as is. Now, if you hit a low hanging tree branch that you somehow didn't see and it dented the RV and broke the windshield right where the rust just happens to be, that should be covered if you have comprehensive coverage. No, I'm not suggesting anything slightly nefarious as a work around to an unfortunate situation.

There would have to be some accident damage to be covered by your comprehensive or collision policy, e.g. a stone or branch hit it and caused a leak. Worn seals, rust, etc. are not covered - they are considered maintenance or normal wear & tear.

Insurance is designed to cover situations that are "sudden and accidental". Any leakage that has occurred over a period of time will not be covered unless it can be tied to some specific incident which damaged the motorhome and started the leak.

insurance is like a casino. they bet you wont need it, and you bet you will.
and the states back the casino by requiring you to have it.

If you want to claim insurance then you need to have a cracked windshield and during the replacement they fix the rusted area which has to be done in order to attach the windshield. Just pay your glass deductible and for any extra repairs necessary to fix the mounts.
